CANTON, Ohio – T.J. Campbell made a 20-foot jump shot with 1.6 seconds remaining Saturday to give the Canton Charge an 89-88 victory against the Maine Red Claws at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.
Maine held an 83-75 lead with 5:27 remaining, but Canton climbed back into it with a 7-0 run keyed by four Campbell free throws.
A Luke Harangody jumper with 57.9 seconds left gave the Charge their first lead of the quarter at 86-85. The Red Claws had a chance to go back on top with 7.7 seconds left but Hamady N’Diaye missed a pair of free throws.
Alan Anderson of Canton made 1 of 2 from the line with 6.1 seconds left, giving Maine a chance, and Lawrence Hill drained a turnaround 3-pointer to put the Red Claws up by one with 4.1 seconds to play. A Charge timeout set up Campbell’s winner off the inbounds pass.
Harangody had his fourth double-double in five games with Canton, posting 19 points and 18 rebounds, and Campbell finished with 16 points and seven assists. Tyrell Biggs chipped in 10 points for the Charge, who improved to 21-18.
Five players cracked double digits for Maine, which fell to 16-24. Kenny Hayes had 18 points, five rebounds and five assists, and DeShawn Sims had 12 points and 15 rebounds.
N’Diaye chipped in 16 points, Hill finished with 13 and Xavier Silas had 10.
