DAMARISCOTTA — Lincoln Theater in downtown Damariscotta will launch two new series in March: “Docu-Tuesdays” and “Late Winter Ballets.”
Docu-Tuesdays will present a documentary film showing at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, beginning March 13. The series opens with “Joffrey: Mavericks of American Dance” which takes a look at the Joffrey Ballet.
Narrated by Mandy Patinkin and directed by Bob Hercules, the film “documents how the Joffrey revolutionized American ballet by daringly combining modern dance with traditional ballet technique, combining art with social statement and setting ballets to pop and rock music scores,” a Lincoln Theater release states.
Other films in March include “Genius Within:The Inner Life of Glenn Gould” and “Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work.” The films are regular movie ticket prices.
At 7 p.m. Wednesday, the Lincoln Theater will kick off a series of screenings of some of the world’s best ballet companies, captured live in HD, when it shows The Bolshoi Ballet and its production of “Swan Lake.” The series will also include the Royal Ballet productions of “Giselle” and “Romeo and Juliet,” as well as the Teatro alla Scala Ballet Company’s production of “Mediterranea.”
Ticket information is available by calling 563-3424 or visiting www.atthelincoln.org.
