FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Morris Almond scored 37 points and the Maine Red Claws closed the first quarter with a 17-4 run to take control during a 114-104 victory over the Fort Wayne Mad Ants at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

Maine (16-23) built a seven-point lead on three occasions in the opening eight minutes and led 23-19 before Courtney Pigram and Lawrence Hill hit consecutive 3-pointers to start a string of 13 straight points.

Almond scored the next seven points on two field goals and three foul shots, and Kenny Hayes made four foul shots in the final 35 seconds of the first quarter for a 40-23 lead. The Claws maintained a comfortable margin the rest of the way.

Hayes finished with 25 points, while Hill and Xavier Silas chipped in 15 apiece.

Maine held a 48-36 rebounding advantage, led by Hayes with 15 and Hill with 12.

Charles Garcia had 19 points and 13 rebounds, and Cameron Jones added 18 points for the Mad Ants (11-28).
