BRUNSWICK — Charlene Hite, 66, of Larry Lane, Brunswick, passed away on Tuesday, February 28th at Mid coast Hospital.
She was born in Bath, on December 22, 1945 the daughter of Charles and Madelene ( Hathorne) DeLong. She grew up in Woolwich and graduated from Morse High School.
In 1962 she married her 1st husband Robert Hutchins Sr. In 1989 she married her 2nd husband Joseph S. Small, who passed away in 1997 and in 2001 she married her 3rd husband Michael J Hite.
Charlene worked for many years as a waitress and bartender. She worked for 9 years as the dispatcher for the Bath Police Department. She was also a chief steward/ manager for 14 years at the Elks Lodge. Charlene was an avid reader, loved to cook, was very crafty and loved crocheting and was a NASCAR fan.
She was a member of the Brunswick Emblem Club #323, American Legion Post # 202, Topsham and VFW Clewiston, FL.
She will be sadly missed by all those that loved her.
She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Small and a brother, William F. Stinson.
Charlene is survived by her children, Robert Hutchins Jr, of Brunswick, Mark Hutchins of Brunswick, Laurie Durkee and her husband Richard of Brunswick, Katherine Robinson of Brunswick and Michelle Small of Bath; a sister, Sherrie DeLong of Yarmouth; grandchildren, Lindsey Rideout of Charleston, Grady Hutchins, Jordan Hutchins both of Roanoke, VA, Noah Hutchins of Brunswick, Erik Robinson Jr, of Dexter, Heather Durkee, Amanda Durkee, Tyler Durkee, and Shane Durkee all of Brunswick.
In keeping with Charlene’s wishes there will be no funeral at this time. Her cremains will be scattered in the ocean this spring and a memorial service will be held at that time. To share your thoughts and condolences with her family please visit www.desmondfuneralhomes.com.
