PORTLAND – The No. 2 Scarborough girls basketball team finally saw its luck run out as the Red Storm girls saw their season ended by No. 1 McAuley in the Class A West girls regional final.
The Lions led from wire-to-wire, taking the regional title with a 61-43 win. McAuley will look to win its second straight state championship next Saturday night as they take on Eastern champ Cony at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
It was a tough way to end the season for the Red Storm, who dominated teams during the regular season, but struggled in the playoffs, having to come from behind in both the quarterfinals and the semifinals to keep their season alive.
Scarborough senior Carly Rogers finished the game with 14 points.
