Here are the basic guidelines for qualifying to be a Pine Tree Development Zones business:
— Create at least one “quality job.”
— A quality job is defined as one in which pay-plus-benefits are more than the per capita salary in the county where the business is located. They range from the low of $29,464 in Washington County to the high of $45,147 in Cumberland County.
— The employees must also have “access” to group health insurance and retirement benefits.
— The business must be in one of the following sectors: biotechnology, aquaculture, marine technology, composite materials, environmental technology, advanced technologies for forestry and agriculture, manufacturing, precision manufacturing, information technology or financial services.
