BATH — Students 18 years old and younger will be admitted free to Maine Maritime Museum when accompanied by a paying adult during winter school vacation, which runs from Monday through Feb. 24.
The deal is limited to two students per adult. Adult admission costs $10.
In addition to the museum’s signature exhibits, its latest exhibit, “Port of Portland: A Ship-Shaped History,” will be on view.
The exhibit relates the history of Maine’s Gateway City through the accounts of iconic and ordinary, historic and present-day vessels transiting the harbor that molded and continue to shape the city’s character and commerce,” a release from the museum states.
“Discover the tragic story of the sinking of SS Portland and the loss of her 194 passengers and crew; see the gift the city presented to the highly decorated World War II cruiser USS Portland when the ship first visited its namesake city in 1934; learn about the British ships that bombarded and burned the city in advance of the American Revolution as well as other vessels, a group as diverse as the different eras they represent,” the release continues.
