BRUNSWICK — The Gulf of Maine Bookstore in Brunswick, which opened its doors for the first time on the day of an ice storm in late February 1979, is planning a party to celebrate 33 years of independent bookselling.

To celebrate, all books in the store — located at 134 Maine St. — will be 30 percent off on Feb. 24 and 25.

According to a news release, there also will be a birthday party on Feb. 25, at 3 p.m., with discounts, door prizes, food and drink, and readings by two Maine authors: Kristen Lindquist of Camden will read from her new book of poems “Transportation” and Morgan Callan Rogers, a native of Bath, who will read from her new novel “Red Ruby Heart in a Cold Blue Sea” — a coming of age novel set in coastal Maine in the 1960s.

The birthday party is free and open to the public.

For more information, call the bookstore at 729-5083.
