SCARBOROUGH – The No. 9 Biddeford boys basketball team punched its ticket to the quarterfinal round of the Class A West playoffs at the Portland Expo with a 65-59 upset road win of No. 8 Scarborough on Tuesday night.
The Tigers will now move on to the quarterfinals, where they will face top-seeded Deering on Friday night at 8:30 p.m. at the Portland Expo.
The game was a close one all the way through as Biddeford broke open a 15-15 first quarter tie to grab a 38-31 lead at the half. But the Red Storm came battling right back and went on a 17-10 third-quarter run to tie things right back up at 48-48 as the game headed into the fourth quarter.
But Biddeford’s Bobby Cote, who had a game-high 26 points, including four from beyond 3-point range, led the Tigers on a 17-11 run, scoring13 of Biddeford’s points in the quarter to lead Biddeford to the win.
Kolbey Adams led the Scarborough offense with 15 points.
