Born July 19, 1940 in Seboeis, Maine to parents Ruth Creamer and Cyrus Bennett. She was one of 21 children and attended Woolwich schools.
Polly’s entire life was dedicated to taking care of others. In addition to raising her own children, she worked in local daycares and helped to raise many children in the Bath and Yarmouth communities. She attended culinary school and loved to share her gift of cooking with soup kitchens, day cares, bean suppers and of course her large circle of family and friends. She dedicated much of her life to her community, spending hours volunteering for many other organizations, and was the Co- founder of “Kids That Can’t.”
Polly will be remembered for the thoughtful cards she sent and her knack for finding lucky four leaf clovers.
Polly lost her short battle with lung cancer just two weeks after losing her sister Letha Creamer Bennett.
She is survived by her children Wayne Dubar, Suzanne Fountain, Vicky and spouse Jeff Goodenow, 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She’s also survived by her mother Ruth Creamer, Sisters and their spouses; Elaine Chase, Sharon and Richard Park and Christine and Theodore Rolfe. Brothers and their spouses; Wendell Bennett, Bubby & Carol Creamer, Robert Creamer, Gary & Terry Creamer, Roland & Lynn Creamer, Joseph & Laurie Creamer, Michael Bennett Sr. and stepmother, Evelyn Bosworth Bennett.
She will be joining her father Cyrus Bennett and siblings; Byron, Hildreth, Flo, Mike, Libby, Letha, Dale, Michelle, Perley and Ruthie.
A service will be held at the Bath United Church of Christ located at 150 Congress Avenue in Bath on Thursday, February 16th at 2:00.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Polly’s memory to her great grandson who is fighting Astrocytoma (brain cancer) in Florida.
