GARDINER — Mary Ellen ( Pender) Dill, 74 of Brunswick Avenue passed away peacefully after a long illness on Wednesday, February 8th, 2012 at Marshwood Center in Lewiston. The daughter of Daniel and Julia Ann (Williams) Pender. She grew up in the Brunswick area, married and lived in Gardiner the rest of her life. She was married for 57 years to Benjamin U.C. Dill.

When she was younger she worked at Days Jeweler in Augusta and Dessler’s Steakhouse in Gardiner. She worked and retired from Health-Tex in Gardiner as a supervisor. She enjoyed traveling when she was in better health, also was an excellent cook, loved to go shopping and had many craft hobbies she did. She loved to find that “special” new recipe and try it out on us.

Mary Ellen was predeceased by her parents of Brunswick, Daniel and Julia Ann (Williams) Pender. Also two of her brothers, Norris Pender of Conn. and Terrence Pender of Brunswick.

She is survived by her husband, Benjamin U. C. Dill, whom resides at Winthrop Manor in Winthrop. Her two children; daughter, Sherry Beatrice Jones and husband, Stephen of West Gardiner. Son; Daniel Howard Dill and wife, Cristal of Turner. Two sisters; Shiela Skelton and husband, Floyd of Bowdoinham; Barbara Sandelin and husband, Harold of Topsham. Two brothers; Daniel Pender of Ogunquit ; Russell Pender of Brunswick. Seven grandchildren; Jennifer Lynn Jones- Smith and husband, Jason of Lagrange, Oh.; Kimberly Anne MacPherson and husband, Todd of Los Angeles, Ca.; Jeremy Stephen Jones of Yorktown, Va.; Muzette Christine Jones and fiance; Brad Morse of Gardiner; Briannah Kelsey Dill of Gardiner; Sea-Anna Julia Dill and Benjamin Daniel Dill of Turner. Two great-grandchildren; Logan Hunter Jones of Lagrange, Oh. and Stephen Todd MacPherson of Los Angeles, Ca. Also her loving dachshund and companion, Princess. Many nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of her life at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave. in Gardiner on Thurs. Feb. 16th from 3-5 pm. Following the service there will be a gathering at Gardiner Sportsman’s Club, Cobbossee Ave. in Gardiner which everyone is invited to come. Later in the spring there will be a graveside burial service at Libby Hill Cemetery in Gardiner.
