BATH — Jesse T. Duke, 51, of Bath lost his long and courageous fight on Wednesday, February 8th after a 2 year battle with cancer. Jesse was born on June 28, 1960, the son of Herald and Judith Light Duke in Oklahoma and spent his childhood there. At the age of 10 his family moved to Maine, where he graduated from high school. Not long after graduation, Jesse joined the United States Army and proudly served his country.

Jesse wanted to see the world, so traveling was on his agenda. He traveled the country for many years in search for the meaning of life. He found that meaning in Oklahoma when he met his soul mate Ashley Peterson. The couple was married in 2006 and they made their home in Maine, to be closer to his family. Family was very important to Jesse, there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them. He wouldn’t think twice when his son wanted to throw the ball around, he was the first one out the door.

Jesse was an avid reader, and loved to listen to his daughter read and tell him stories, he loved the outdoors and planting his flowers. And when he wasn’t busy with family and friends, you would always find him fix’n something. He was a Jack- of- all Trades. He also enjoyed bike riding, fishing, long walks and GOLF. If Jesse had a choice, golf would be played everyday and year round. On October 3rd of 2011, Jesse was put on Hospice care and given only a few months to live. He fought with everything he had, he was strong willed, and very spiritual. He accepted the Lord and is now in the hands of God. Rest in Peace, Jesse. You were loved and will be sadly missed. Until we meet again.

Jesse is predeceased by his father, Herald

Duke; 2 sisters, Bonnita Larson & Jerri Lee Duke and a daughter, Kayla Duke.
