BRUNSWICK — Mystery for Hire presents “Politics Can Be Murder,” an interactive murder mystery show, on Feb. 25 at the Captain Daniel Stone Inn, 10 Water St.

Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. for the 7 p.m. show.

“I’m pleased to present our production of ‘Politics Can Be Murder’ at the Captain Daniel Stone Inn,” Dan Marois, who has produced more than 460 mystery shows since 1995, said in a release announcing the show. “The show makes lighthearted fun of political campaigns and politics, in general. We don’t pick on any particular politicians, but audiences will recognize some of the political character types. It will be a fun evening for the Brunswick area.”

Audience members are encouraged to take notes as they watch the mystery unfold. When a crime takes place, they become amateur detectives who try to figure out “whodunit?”

At the end of the evening, the person who most correctly guessed who did the crime is the “super sleuth” of the evening.

“What we do is pure fun,” Marois said. “It is a great combination of dining out and seeing a show at the same time. We perform the show between the courses of the meal and actors interact with the audience throughout the evening.”

“Politics Can Be Murder” covers the Senate campaign of incumbent Warren Hardstuff who is challenged by Hilton Paris III, an up-and-coming opponent. The audience is also introduced to Hilary Hardstuff, the senator’s opinionated wife, George Stepitupalot, a political junkie and pollster, and a young lady, Candy, who has political ambitions of her own.

“There are also a few surprises,” said Marois, noting that there is plenty of audience participation.

The cast includes local actors Kathleen Nation and Julie Poulin, both from Monmouth, and Brian Files from Gardiner.

Reservations can be made by calling 373- 1824. The Captain Daniel Stone Inn is offering tickets for $50 per person, which includes the mystery show, meal, tax and gratuity. Overnight rooms are also available.
