ORLANDO, FL — Josephine Marie Bernier, age 95 of Pebble Beach Blvd. and former long-time resident of Brunswick, ME, died Friday, January 27th at Savannah Courts in Oviedo, FL.

She was born in Topsham on October 7, 1916 the daughter of Thomas and Leah Fournier Powers.

She attended Brunswick schools and married Adrien Bernier in 1946. He passed away February 14, 2004 after 58 years of marriage. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother. Her family was the most important part of her life. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting and was well known for her clam chowder and salmon pies.

She moved to the Orlando, FL area to be close to her daughter and son after her husband’s death in 2004.

She is survived by her daughter, Marie Morency and a son Robert A. Bernier both of Orlando, FL, 7 grandchildren, Barbara, Bonnie, and Rick Morency all from Orlando,

Brenda Owens of Calera, AL, Tonya Coles of Indianapolis, IN, LeDon Watkins of Chesapeake, VA, and Anthony Watkins of Orlando, FL, 10 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her “ second” son Paul Thibeault of Cundy’s Harbor.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, Randy Morency, a sister Sally Powers Wainrib, a brother George Powers, and a daughter- in- law Martha Bernier.

There are no funeral services. Interment will be at a later date at Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, ME.

The family wishes to express their thanks to all who have cared for Josephine over the past several years.
