PORTLAND — Portland police are investigating another armed robbery, this one at the Quality Shop at 473 Stevens Ave. at 8 p.m. Thursday night.
The man brandished a gun, pointed it at store employees and yelled at them to give him money.
“It is a very frightening experience for anybody to have to go through,” said Lt. Gary Rogers. “It’s unusual for us to have armed robberies like this where a gun is displayed like that.”
It has become more frequent lately, which is why police are trying to determine if there’s a connection between Thursday’s robbery and two at the Cumberland Farms Pharmacy at 49 Pine St., or the robberies at University Credit Union and TruChoice Credit Union. All had similar characteristics, though the robber’s appearance is obscured.
In this case, the robber was a thin white man, about 5-foot-10, wearing a long black coat and had a white scarf hiding his face.
