KENTS HILL — Simply Divine Brownies, a gourmet brownie company in Maine, recently announced that it will enhance and increase focus on its online presence by adding new products, and also reduce its retail presence by replacing its Freeport store with a pop-up stand near L.L. Bean during holiday times.

According to a news release, the moves come on the heels of Simply Divine Brownies’ most profitable year to date and the need to address the company’s desire to improve work-life balance.

“Last year was full of blessings as well as demands, and we felt we needed to make these changes to have a balanced life,” said Trina Beaulier, CEO of Simply Divine Brownies. “We were pleased that 2011 was our most profitable year ever, as we experienced a resurgence of corporate business from all over the country. We love Freeport and brownies sales were excellent there, however, we needed a more consolidated approach to operations.

“ We are happy we can continue selling brownies in Freeport on a more limited basis, as well as in our Kents Hill shop and online, and are excited about many new developments we are working on for the new year,” Beaulier continued.

Simply Divine Brownies will be expanding products offered on its website to include Apple Shed Bakery favorites such as cashew bars, pecan bars, cookies, snack mix, homemade granola and more.

A 25 percent discount on classic brownies is available now through June 1 by entering the code Sweet2012 when purchasing Simply Divine Brownies online.

In June 2010, Simply Divine Brownies took over the Apple Shed Bakery in Kents Hill and moved all brownie production there, while also moving its retail location next to L.L. Bean in Freeport. Simply Divine Brownies sells its signature brownies at the Apple Shed, as well as fruit pies, cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, turnovers, artisan breads, dinner entrees, salads, appetizers and more.
