Troop 73 meets game warden
Maine Game Warden, Michael Pierre visited with Boy Scout Troop 73 on Jan. 16 to provide the scouts with information about the Maine Warden Service.
The scouts gained an appreciation for all the service provided by Maine game wardens to protect and rescue people in need and for the preservation of Maine’s valued fish, wildlife and other resources.
In addition, Pierre provided information to help some of the scouts complete their fishing and fly-fishing merit badges.
Planners to view subdivision proposal
Gorham Planning Board will hold a site walk at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, to view a request for a 5-lot, single-family residential subdivision on Alberta Way off Bartlett Road.
Paul Gore is proposing the project in the rural zoning district.
Dean’s list students
Several students from Gorham have been named to the dean’s list at St. Joseph’s College for the fall semester. They are: Chelsea Black, Lauren Chouinard, Megan Cutter, Alexander Dahms, Jonathan Dahms, Shannon Davis, Emily Hamblen, Adam Hawkes, Paul Morse, Benjamin Smart, Allison Speed, Deanna Taylor, Michelle Walls and Elizabeth Wise.
Benjamin Peter of Gorham has been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Washington College in Chestertown, Md. Peter, a senior majoring in physics, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bryan D. Peter.
Motor Booty
concert benefit
Darcy Bourgault of the Gorham Project Graduation Committee said the Motor Booty Affair would appear in a fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 11, in the Gold Room on Warren Avenue in Portland.

Exchange plans meeting
Gorham Business Exchange will meet 11:30 a.m. – 1p.m on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Gorham Savings Bank Community Room, Wentworth Drive, in Gorham.
Chris Hall, Portland Regional Chamber’s senior vice president for government relations, will speak about the policies and politics of the 2012 legislative session and how the decisions made in Augusta this winter will impact communities for years to come. Lunch will be catered. Cost for members, $15; non-members, $25.

Senior center events
Lakes Region Senior Center, 40 Acorn St., Gorham, has announced a slate of upcoming activities for next week.
Monday, Jan. 30, 9 a.m.- Coffee Cafe $1.50; 9:30 a.m. – cribbage-all levels.
Tuesday, Jan. 31, 9:30 a.m., – exercise with video; 10 a.m. – learn to knit or any needlecraft, also card games will be happening.
Wednesday, Feb. 1, 10 a.m. – pickleball in the gym; 1 p.m. – scrapbooking.
And Thursday, Feb. 2, 10 a.m. – snowshoeing, snowshoes will be provided.
Events listed are for the group’s members. Those interested in joining should stop in for information.
The center is open Monday to Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
