HAVERHILL, MA — Arthur William Hunt III, 74, of Casablanca Court, Haverhill, MA and Ledgemere Road, Five Islands, ME, died at home on January 23, 2012 after a long illness. Bill was born on October 29, 1937 in Dorchester, MA to Arthur and Virginia Hunt. He graduated from Boston Public Schools and served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal from 1954 – 1960. He served as a Seagoing Marine on the USS Newport News from 1958-1959.

He lived in the Fort Myers, FL area for many years before moving to Haverhill, MA. From early childhood, Bill summered at his home on Five Islands, ME where he was well- known for his Fourth of July fireworks displays.

Bill had a 40 year career in the trucking industry as an owner- operator where his handle was “Redbeard”. He had many friends from the road between Maine and Florida.

In his later years, he re-connected with the Seagoing Marine Association. He was very proud of his time served in the US Marine Corp and enjoyed attending reunions with other Marines. He volunteered much of his time during retirement to managing and operating the USS Newport News Ship’s Store for his naval buddies as well as attending reunions where he would coordinate the Ship’s Store activities.

Bill is survived by his wife, Vicky ( DiFruscio) Hunt, stepchildren; Sheila Skane and her husband Donald of South Hampton, NH, Sherry Marconi and her husband Robert of North Andover, MA, Brad Perocchi of North Andover, MA, Alana Robinson and her husband Michael of East Providence, RI, grandchildren; Jessica and Connor Skane of South Hampton, NH, Anthony, Nicholas, and Ava Marconi of North Andover, MA, Olivia and Hannah Perocchi of Haverhill, MA, Michael, Margaret, and Alexander Robinson of East Providence, RI, brothers and sister; Gregory Hunt of Norwell, MA, Timothy Hunt and his wife Janet of Norwell, MA, Maryellen Hunt and her partner Maryellen Pesci of Cohasset, MA., numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and many dear friends.

He was predeceased by his sisters Virginia Marie Hunt of Cohasset, MA, and Margaret Cooper of Colorado.

Calling hours are Wednesday, 4:00pm – 8:00pm at Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third Street, North Andover, MA. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at St. Michael Church, 196 Main Street, North Andover. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack Street, Lawrence, MA 01843.
