SMCC will offer free classes to help reduce energy bills

Southern Maine Community College is offering free weatherization classes to help homeowners cut their energy bills.

The two-hour classes will teach participants how heat escapes from homes and what cost-effective steps can be taken to increase energy efficiency.

College President Ron Cantor said the workshops will give people an opportunity to control costs at a time when oil prices are going up and heating assistance and temperatures are going down.

The classes are being offered Tuesday and again Saturday. Advanced registration is required. Additional information is available at www.smccme.edu/free-weatherization.
