Faces from around the world were in evidence as the NAACP Portland Branch hosted a multicultural concert at Merrill Auditorium on Sunday evening as part of the group’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day festivities.

The program included the Pihcintu Multinational Children’s Chorus, the Burundi Batimbo Beat Drummers, Congolese Singers, Women in Harmony and the Music Ministry of Green Memorial AME Zion Church.

The group’s 31st annual MLK Holiday Celebration Breakfast will be held at 8 a.m. today at Holiday Inn by the Bay.

The featured speaker will be Kalahn Taylor-Clark, Ph.D., a Maine native who is director of health policy at the National Partnership for Women and Families in Washington, D.C., who will discuss the role of health care in efforts to bring equality around the globe.
