Funeral services for former Lincoln County Sheriff William C. Carter, who died Wednesday at age 72, have been scheduled for Thursday, according to Lincoln County Sheriff ’s Lt. Michael Murphy.

The services are scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Lincoln Academy gymnasium in Newcastle, including both military and law enforcement honors. A reception will be held at the Wells-Hussey American Legion Hall at 527 Main St. in Damariscotta following the services.

At the family’s request, there are no visiting hours or graveside service planned at this time.
