The theater company describes the production as follows:
“The X-Mas Files: A Search for Santa” is a musical holiday comedy for all ages. … Led by special agents Moldy (Dagney Ernest) and Sullen (Melissa Hearth), Elves in Black (J.P. Lobley and Christina McClure) are on a special assignment to prove (or disprove) Santa’s very existence.
They travel through time, following connections from the pyramids to Stonehenge, exploring quantum physics to track the path of the mysterious Santa Claus.
The real Santa is missing from the North Pole.
His toymaking, dancing and singing elves are in an uproar.
Mrs. Claus has joined a self-help group and is demanding to be called “Ms.”
“The X-Mas Files,” written by Ellie Busby in 1999, was originally produced at the Lincoln Theater. Featuring many familiar songs with a new slant, the show parodies the ‘X Files’ and the modern age of “question everything.”
Could Santa use a time travel device? Did he help build the pyramids? Was Stonehenge really a mysterious marker to guide the sleigh?
Musical parodies by comedy songwriter Bob Rivers include “There’s a Santa Who Looks a lot like Elvis,” “All You Need is Elves” and “He’s so Jolly.”
