Harpswell bandstand project nears goal
HARPSWELL — Funding is nearly secured for a bandstand at George W. Mitchell Field in Harpswell, according to a release from the Harpswell Bandstand Organization.
The organization reported this week that through donations, fundraisers and grants, it has received 90 percent of the $ 50,000 needed to complete the project.
Funds for the project are still being accepted. More information about contributions and fundraising efforts will be available at the organization’s website in January, at harpswellbandstand.org.
The release states the project’s goal is to create a waterfront venue for celebrations, programs, concerts, art exhibits and other town activities. Construction, the release states, is scheduled to be completed by the end of summer 2012.
Sagadahoc GOP sells Christmas wreaths
BATH — As a holiday fundraiser, the Sagadahoc County Republican Committee continues to sell freshly made Christmas wreaths in 12-inch and 16-inch sizes.
The cost is $12 per 12-inch wreath or $ 16 per 16- inch wreath. To order Maine-made wreaths, call 841-5953.
Funds raised by the organization will go to support the 2012 election efforts of local, county, state and national GOP candidates, according to a release from Kyle Rogers, chairman of the committee.
Santa to join Knights for Sunday breakfast
BATH — The Knights of Columbus will host a public breakfast buffet from 7: 30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday at 807 Middle St.
The menu includes eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, waffles, pancakes, French toast, home fries, juice, biscuits, gravy, muffins, coffee, tea and more.
Santa plans to attend.
The suggested donation is $6 for adults or $3 for children younger than 12 years old.
