Pleasant Street shop hosts pet food drive

BRUNSWICK — Kathy Wilson’s Pet Grooming, 144 Pleasant St., will host a pet food drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Early donations are welcome.

The Lewiston Auburn Kennel Club and Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Project (MCHPP) are partners in the drive. MCHPP will distribute the pet food collected to families in danger of having to give up their pets to animal shelters because they can’t afford to feed the animals.

Silent auction fetches cash for dog park

BRUNSWICK — A silent auction to benefit Brunswick Area Recreation for Kanines (BARK), which aims to create a dog park in town, will take place during the winter farmers market Saturday at Fort Andross, 14 Maine St.

Bidding will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. “All proceeds will benefit the future dog park to be located on the Androscoggin River Bicycle and Pedestrian Path off Water Street in Brunswick,” a BARK release states.

Auction items include a weekend in a Sunday River condominium; a photo session with The Tiffany Studio; a live music gig by Jeff Herbster; a local boat cruise; gift baskets from Planet Dog and Cool As A Moose; and gift certificates from Brent & Jess Goldsmiths, Little Dog Café, Pawsibilities, Pet Connections, and Silver Paw Pet Tags.

The auction will include live music, pet treats and a sale of dog-themed cookie cutters.
