WALDOBORO — “The XMas Files: A Search for Santa,” a musical comedy, opens at 7 p.m. today at Waldo Theatre.

“ Led by special agents Moldy (Dagney Ernest) and Sullen (Melissa Hearth) Elves in Black, ( J. P. Lobley and Christina McClure) are on a special assignment to prove ( or disprove) Santa’s very existence,” a Waldo Theatre release states. “They travel through time, following connections from the Pyramid to Stonehenge, exploring Quantum Physics to track the path of the mysterious Santa Claus.

“The real Santa is missing from the North Pole. His toymaking, dancing and singing elves are in an uproar, and Mrs. Claus has joined a selfhelp group and is demanding to be called “Ms.’”

“The X-Mas Files,” written by Ellie Busby in 1999, was originally produced at the Lincoln Theater.

“Featuring many familiar songs with a new slant, the show parodies the X-files and the modern age of ‘question everything,’” the release states.

Other shows are scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 and Dec. 17. A matinee begins at 2 p.m. Dec. 18.

Tickets, priced at $8 and $5, can be purchased at Waltz Pharmacy in Waldoboro or reserved by calling 832-6060.
