The Studio Theatre of Bath’s production of Barbara Robinson’s “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” opens tonight at the Chocolate Church Arts Center, 804 Washington St.
A second performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Other shows are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Dec. 16 and 17, as well as at 2 p.m. Sunday and Dec. 18.
The play offers a comic look at how a well-intentioned family can generate hilarity in their efforts to stage a Christmas pageant.
Wayne Otto directs the show.
Sarah Meyer-Waldo plays Beth, the Narrator. Her brother Charlie is played by Tyler Peaslee.
Herdman family members are played by Griffin Tibbets (Ralph), Trevan MacMullen (Leroy), Annie Bryer ( Imogene), Noah Peaslee (Claude), Ben Willertz (Ollie) and Emily Minott ( Gladys). Another notable performer is Sierra Wallace as Alice.
Veteran performers include Billy Rankis as Father, and Kirstin Hayward as Mother. Linda Robataille is Mrs. Armstrong and Kendray Welsh is Mrs. McCarthy.
Belita Velizio is the stage manager, while Tracy Forest is the music director.
The Morse High School choir will perform holiday music before today’s show. The Apostolic Church Choir will perform before the Dec. 17 production.
The Angel Choir, with some singers as young as 4 years old, will perform before the shows on Saturday and Sunday, as well as Dec. 16 and 18.
Adult tickets cost only $10. Student and senior citizen tickets are $8 and children younger than age 5 get in free.
Those who bring nonperishable food items for donation to the Bath Food Pantry, along with a coupon flier from the Studio Theater website, can save $3 on a student ticket. The discount is only available at the door.
