The Comprehensive Plan Implementation Committee seeks public feedback on proposed changes to the town’s subdivision ordinance before finalizing amendment language scheduled to go to the May 2012 town meeting.
Townspeople are invited to share thoughts at the CPIC meeting at 6:30 p.m. today in the municipal building, 100 Main St.
The proposed changes stem from recommendations in the town’s Natural Areas Plan, which is part of the town’s comprehensive plan. The proposed amendment would implement the recommendation of the Natural Areas Plan to allow rural subdivisions in the R- 3 District to gain approval in one of three ways: As conventional subdivisions meeting the current standards; as open space subdivisions in which part of the subdivision is set aside as permanent open space; or as large lot subdivisions with reduced requirements for road access.
No penalties or upfront costs are imbedded in the proposed language, according to Rod Melanson, the town’s natural resources planner.
During today’s meeting, the CPIC will present the proposed changes, Melanson said. He said the committee plans to finalize amendment language in February to take the amendment to the May 2012 town meeting.
Melanson said the CPIC also plans to discuss today how the committee wants to approach the Route 196 corridor plan.
