CHAPEL HILL, N. C. ( AP) — Harrison Barnes scored 10 of his 20 points during the decisive secondhalf surge to help No. 5 North Carolina rally past No. 9 Wisconsin 60-57 on Wednesday night.
Tyler Zeller added 12 points for the Tar Heels (6-1) in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Coming off its first loss of the season, North Carolina trailed by five points midway through the second half before going on an 18-5 run that finally put the Tar Heels ahead for good.
Jordan Taylor had 18 points to lead Wisconsin (6-1).
No. 15 Kansas 77, Florida Atlantic 54
LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Thomas Robinson had 19 points and 17 rebounds for his sixth straight doubledouble and Kansas overcame some sloppiness on offense.
Playing their first home game in nearly three weeks, the Jayhawks (4-2) committed 17 turnovers that turned into several easy baskets for the Owls (4- 4). But the play underneath by Robinson, the reigning Big 12 player of the week, was enough to carry them to victory.
Dennis Mavin and Pablo Bertone scored points 17 each for the Owls, who have lost nine straight against ranked teams.
No. 17 Pittsburgh 80, Duquesne 69
PITTSBURGH ( AP) — Ashton Gibbs scored 18 points and Pittsburgh beat Duquesne for the 11th straight time in the annual City Game.
Dante Taylor added 15 points and Lamar Patterson scored 10 for the Panthers (6-1), who dominated the glass to overcome serious turnover problems.
Sean Johnson led Duquesne (4-3) with 19 points.
No. 18 UNLV 94, UC Santa Barbara 88, 2OT
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. ( AP) — Mike Moser scored 34 points and Chace Stanback had all 19 of his after halftime for UNLV.
The Rebels (8-0) won their first game as a Top 25 team. Orlando Johnson led the Gauchos (4-2) with 36 points and 10 rebounds. It was the second consecutive overtime defeat for UCSB, which lost 76-75 to San Diego State in its previous game.
No. 19 Gonzaga 73, Notre Dame 53
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Robert Sacre scored 15 points to lead Gonzaga (5-0).
Jerian Grant scored 16 points for Notre Dame (5-3) and Pat Connaughton added 11. The Irish made 20 of 52 shots, were forced into 17 turnovers and were outrebounded 40-32.
No. 25 Texas A&M 56, Alcorn St. 44
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Ray Turner scored 16 points and Texas A&M overcame a sleepy start and awful shooting for its 64th consecutive nonconference home win.
Eastern Illinois 85, Maine 80, OT
CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP) — Jeremy Granger scored all nine Eastern Illinois points in overtime as the Panthers beat Maine 85-80 on Wednesday night.
Alfonzo McKinnie had 24 points and 14 rebounds to lead Eastern Illinois (4-2). Joey Miller added 19 points, Granger finished with 14 and L.C. Doss had 12.
The Black Bears (2-2) got 26 points from Gerald McLemore, who hit five 3-pointers and scored seven points in the final 22 seconds of regulation to force overtime.
Justin Edwards added 14 points, Raheem Singleton 13 and Andrew Rogers 11.
McLemore hit a 3-pointer to cut the Panthers’ lead to 74-72 with 22 seconds left in regulation. After Miller sank two free throws, McLemore was fouled as he made a 3-pointer. The subsequent free throw forced overtime.
Maine committed 26 fouls and had two players foul out, allowing Eastern Illinois to make 26 of 35 free throws. The Black Bears were just 4-for-4 from the line.
