According to a news release, participating businesses include 24 studios, shops, galleries and eateries in Harpswell, all located along Harpswell Neck on Route 123; on Great, Orr’s and Bailey islands along Route 24, and in Cundy’s Harbor.
This collaborative effort celebrating “Holidays in Harpswell” takes place on two straight weekends (Saturdays and Sundays, Dec. 3-4 and Dec. 10-11) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., each day.The Harpswell Art and Craft Guild, Five Rivers Arts Alliance and Southern Midcoast Maine Chamber continue to work together to bring the best of what the Midcoast/ Harpswell region has to offer for this holiday season. As well as the offering of diverse products and fine meals, the public can enjoy the always spectacular drive along Harpswell’s scenic coastline and experience the satisfaction of supporting local artisans and businesses whose communal effort help create that old-time holiday feeling of neighborly connection.
People visiting the shops in Harpswell will discover baskets, pottery, jewelry, crafts, wooden heirloom flower presses, hats, ornaments, furniture, fine art, handbags, note cards, clothing, candies, handmade paper and other items. “Holidays in Harpswell” will also include demonstrations and special event offerings at five local eateries.Brochures with location maps will be available at the Brunswick Visitors Center; the Five Rivers Arts Alliance-sponsored event “Downtown Move Up” located on the second floor of the Lincoln Building, Main Street, Brunswick (Dec. 2-4); and at other locations along local routes and at participating sites. Look for the big red bow on the guild’s distinctive Blue Heron signs.
