TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) — The International Criminal Court’s prosecutor says Moammar Gadhafi’s son Seif al-Islam will be tried in a Libyan court by Libyan judges.

Luis Moreno-Ocampo says the ICC will help Libya establish the judicial framework for the trial, which many expect to be a bellwether of the new Libyan government’s ability to uphold the rule of law.

The ICC has charged Seif al-Islam and exintelligence chief Abdullah al-Senoussi with crimes against humanity for the brutal crackdown on an uprising that began in February. Moammar Gadhafi also was charged, but the case has been terminated following his death.

Libyan Justice Minister Mohammed al- Alagi also said today that he can’t confirm reports that al-Senoussi is in custody.
