Frances is survived by her husband Arthur, of 68 years. Her sister Margery Sylvester of Bath, her son Roger and wife Joanne Young, her daughters Gail and husband George Cann, Betsy and husband Rob Jordan, all from Florida, Julie and husband Nick Racioppi of Woolwich, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Frances was born and raised in Bath, January 23, 1922, the younger of two children to Frank and Bernice Lemont. She attended Bath schools and graduated from Morse High School, Class of 1940 as the Secretary of her class. Frances went to school with and married “the boy with the blue eyes” Arthur R. Young on April 18, 1942. Married 68 years, Frances and Arthur raised 4 children; Roger, Gail, Betsy and Julie. They began their family in Bath, with Roger and Gail. Later, Art and Frannie, as most people know them, moved to Gorham, NH and completed their family with the birth of Betsy and Julie.
Growing up in Maine, Frances enjoyed the beautiful outdoors boating, skiing, walking and playing bridge with her girlf riends. Frances always spoke of the good times skating down at the south end on Goddards Pond. Most of all, Frances enjoyed spending her summers with her family and friends at their summer cottage on Southport Island.
While living at the Hillhouse, Frannie and her sister Margery were known as the “sistah’s” and could always be found sitting together and gazing at the hustle and bustle of others. Frequent visits from her niece Ann Harford and the exceptional support and care from the Hillhouse staff, filled their days with joy.
A celebration of her life will be held during the summer of 2012 at their family cottage on Camerons Point, Southport Island.
