PORTLAND — A former Arundel man was sentenced in federal court today to 75 months of imprisonment for identity theft and filing a false income tax return to obtain a fraudulent refund.
Robert Andre Bouthot, 43, was also ordered to three years of supervised release and to pay restitution of $138,088.50 to the Internal Revenue Service by Judge George Singal.
Bouthot pleaded guilty to the charges in May. The charges stem from a false 2008 income tax return filed with the Social Security number of an actual individual. The return resulted in a refund of $11,169, based on tax withholdings and first-time homebuyer credit.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office presented evidence that Bouthot admitted filing a total of 32 false returns between 2004 and 2010.
