FALMOUTH – The Scarborough girls soccer team fell just short in its defense of the Class A state championship on Saturday, losing 4-0 to Bangor at Falmouth High School.

The Red Storm was unable to break through on the Rams, who got a first-half goal from Jade Baumrind off a corner kick.

The Rams rode the momentum of that first goal into the second half and Bangor’s Grace MacLean got a breakaway goal to put the Rams up 2-0 with 30:47 left to go in the game. The Rams then put the game out of reach with a second goal from MacLean and Baumrind also added another to make it 4-0.

Jessica Broadhurst holds the Class A runners-up plaque as she
and the other Scarborough captains, Emily Howes, Haley Carignan and
Emily Tolman, return to their teammates.
