SACO – Despite falling behind early when Windham forced a safety, Thornton Academy managed to find their rhythm offensively to overtake Windham 21-9 in a Class A football quarterfinal playoff game on Saturday . Thornton’s Andrew Libby totaled just under 250 yards rushing on 25 carries. Of those 25 carries, two went for scores on runs of two and four yards. Both of Libby’s touchdowns came in the second quarter.

The Trojans also received contributions from fullback Nick Kenney and quarterback Eric Christensen. Despite being ineffective in the passing game, Christensen was able to add a touchdown run of his own late in the fourth quarter to put the Trojans up 21-2 following the extra point.

On the ensuing kickoff, the Eagles were finally able to put some points on the board when wide out Damien Shepard returned the kick 99-yards for a touchdown. The ensuing extra-point would be the last point scored on the day however as the Trojans cruised to the victory.
