Remembering
Kate Wiggin
Carla Turner, president of the Dorcas Society of Hollis and Buxton, reports that its founder, Kate Douglas Wiggin, was born Sept. 28, 1856.
Turner said the society is planning a birthday celebration in early October remembering Wiggin, who died in 1923.
Wiggin was a noted children’s author and educator. Wiggin and her sister once owned the Salmon Falls Library. Her sister gave it to Hollis as a Wiggin memorial.
BEHS welcomes class of 2015
Bonny Eagle High School welcomed more than 290 new students Aug. 30, the first day of school reserved for incoming freshmen.
The class of 2015 worked on team-building activities and reviewed the rules of the high school. Activities included teacher/student partnerships, which showed the students leadership, collaboration, and clear directions.
The new students visited an Activities Fair to learn about clubs, sports, and activities available. A picnic lunch was cooked by the staff.
