STANDISH — Joseph Lee, who was appointed president of Saint Joseph’s College in 2007, announced his resignation to the college’s Board of Trustees effective immediately.
Lee came to the college in Standish in 2005 as vice president of enrollment management.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my six years at the college, but after a summer of soul searching, I have come to the conclusion that the time is right for me to step down before a new academic year. This will afford me more time to be with family and friends, especially my three sons,” Lee said.
Claire Bowen, Board of Trustees chairwoman, said Lee has had a “strong interest in advancing academic opportunities for the students at the college.”
“On behalf of the board, I thank Joe for his six years of leadership to the college and wish him every success in his future,” Bowen said.
College spokesman William McCarthy said the Board of Trustees will discuss appointing an interim president at their next meeting.
