PORTLAND — Otto’s mashed potato, bacon and scallion pizza has been named one of the 50 best pizzas in the country by the editors at Food Network Magazine.
The pizza will be featured in the magazine’s September issue, which hits stands Aug. 9, along with the best slices from every other state in the country.
Otto’s mashed potato pizza will also be making its national television debut at 8 p.m. Aug. 21, when it is featured on an hour-long Cooking Channel special called “Pizza Outside the Box.” The Cooking Channel, an affiliate of the Food Network, can be seen locally on Time Warner Cable channel 119.
A Cooking Channel crew came to Portland in May to film the Otto segment, which will kick off the network’s pizza week Aug. 21-27.
The TV special will be repeated Aug. 21 at 12 a.m.; Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. and 12 a.m.; Aug,. 26 at 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.; Aug. 27 at 9 a.m.; Aug. 31 at 9 p.m. and 1 a.m.; and Sept. 5 at 8 p.m. and 12 a.m.
Other pizzas making the Food Network Magazine’s best-in-the-country list were New Hampshire’s spicy guacamole pizza from MT’s Local Kitchen & Wine Bar in Nashua and the lobster pizza from Scampo in Boston.
