Wilkies Beach E-coli info meeting
The Crystal Lake Association is hosting an e-coli informational meeting on Monday, July 25, from 7 to 8 p.m. at St. Gregory’s Parish Hall, 24 North Raymond Road, Gray. Guest speakers will be Gray Code Enforcement Officer and Health Officer Ryan Keith, and Dean Bennett, Gray Recreation director and director of the Wilkies Beach operation.
While current water testing shows low levels of e-coli, Wilkies Beach was closed last summer for several weeks due to elevated levels of e-coli. A collaboration between town officials and the Crystal Lake Association has resulted in a procedure that will be followed for water quality testing and reporting of test results, closure of the beach as a result of elevated levels of e-coli, communication of status of the beach closure, and methods of dealing with the overpopulation of geese. There will be a brief time for questions. The public is invited to attend.
