THEO BOWE
Boys’ basketball
Bowe, of Cape Elizabeth, had arguably the best single-game performance of the 2011 state tournament. He scored 36 points to fuel the Capers’ near-upset against Camden Hills in the Class B state final.
Bowe averaged 25.2 points for the season and was selected as MVP of the Western Class B tournament. He missed two games during the season, and suffice it to say, the Capers weren’t the same team.
KAYLA BURCHILL
Girls’ basketball
Burchill of Deering, a senior, had one of the most celebrated careers of any player in the state. She played on two Class A state championship teams and in two other regional finals. She finished with 1,279 career points and was honored as Miss Maine Basketball.
The 6-foot Burchill averaged 22.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.0 steals as a senior to lead the Rams to a 19-2 record. She will continue playing at the University of Vermont.
