WESTBROOK — Westbrook-based Idexx Laboratories Inc. reported revenue of $292.7 million for the first quarter of 2011, up 9 percent over the same period last year.

The company, which makes animal testing equipment, said gross profits in the quarter increased 9 percent to $154.9 million. Earnings per diluted share in the quarter increased 13 percent, to 62 cents.

“Overall for the quarter, our revenue growth was solid and our strong earnings growth was slightly above our expectations in January,” said Idexx CEO Jonathan Ayers in a prepared statement.

The company expects full-year 2011 revenue to increase roughly 10 percent over 2009 to about $1.2 billion.
