POWNAL — One person has been hospitalized with minor injuries following a fire that destroyed a garage in Pownal this afternoon.
The fire at 87 Tuttle Road was reported about 2:45 p.m. and drew firefighters from Pownal, Freeport, Durham, Yarmouth and North Yarmouth, according to Bradford Holden, a dispatcher at the Brunswick communications center.
The state Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire, which was under control within a couple of hours, he said.
Holden said the garage, which was a total loss, was not attached to a house. He did not know what was inside the garage. He didn’t release the name, age or gender of the person who was injured and taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
