DETROIT – Charlie Sheen has been, duh, winning in the showbiz world for years, starring in top-grossing movies and hit TV shows. He even wrote a book of poetry 20 years ago.

Now, the 45-year-old warlock is coming to a theater near you in an attempt to cast a spell on the world of live entertainment.

A one-month, 20-city Sheen road show kicks off in Detroit, where he’s expected to — well, it’s not entirely clear what he’s going to do.

Few details have emerged about the format of his proposed performances, though the unemployed actor did say during an appearance on WKQI-FM in Detroit that rapper Snoop Dogg will be at the historic Fox Theatre tonight.

And an ex-porn actress is one of two women whom he selected to sing the national anthem.

“Detroit, you’ve been warned,” Sheen said during the radio interview.

Sheen’s publicist, Larry Solters, said the show will last about 90 minutes and feature guests, music and a multimedia presentation. As for why Detroit was chosen as the tour’s first destination: “Why not?” Solters said Friday.

Sheen, the son of actor Martin Sheen and brother of actor/director Emilio Estevez, rocketed to stardom in the 1980s thanks to a series of memorable roles in major films including “Wall Street,” “Platoon,” “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” and “Major League.” He found small-screen success later in his career in “Spin City” and “Two and a Half Men.”

In recent years, Sheen also has made headlines for tabloid-worthy marital discord and wild partying.

New tape details 911 call about Lohan

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – A rehab worker is heard on a recording telling a 911 operator in December that Lindsay Lohan hit her and telling Lohan to pack her bags to leave.

The Betty Ford Center worker, Dawn Holland, told the dispatcher, “Lindsay Lohan pushed me and hit me with the phone while I was trying to talk to you.”

Authorities released the call Friday, three days after prosecutors said they found insufficient evidence to file any charges.

Lohan is also heard on the call, saying Holland is “freaking me out.”

A phone message for Lohan’s attorney, Shawn Holley, seeking comment on the recording was not immediately returned Friday.

Gay ‘Archie’ character to get own mini-series

PHILADELPHIA – After his debut in “Veronica” No. 202 caused Archie Comics to do a second printing for the first time in its history, the publisher is giving its first openly gay character his own mini-series this summer.

The character, Kevin Keller, has connected with the comic book publisher’s fans, said Dan Parent, who is writing and drawing the four-issue series that comes out in June.

There have been and are gay characters in other comics, but Keller’s role as a friend to Archie, Veronica and the others at Riverdale High is part of the company’s push to keep them relevant and contemporary.

“I think as time marches on, gay characters in comics will become more commonplace and it won’t be a big media event every time a gay character is introduced,” Parent said Friday.

He noted that gay characters are commonplace in film and TV, too, citing “youth-oriented shows like ‘Glee,’ ‘Degrassi High,’ ‘90210,’ ” among others.

Archie Comics has strived to make its fictional world relevant to the real world. In recent months, it has published stories about Archie getting married and the death of teacher Geraldine Grundy, who succumbed to cancer.

“The world of Riverdale has to reflect contemporary culture and to show it is an accepting, diverse place,” Parent said.

He said the series will focus on Kevin’s friendships, his strong bond with his father and his coming out to friends and family.
