CAPE ELIZABETH — After interviewing semifinalists from an initial pool of 15 candidates, the School Board unanimously decided to reopen its search for a new superintendent, according to board Chairwoman Mary Townsend.
In a statement released Friday, Townsend said, “Although we interviewed several quality candidates with diverse skills from top-notch schools around the country, we just did not find the right match for the district at this time.”
Candidate interviews ran from March 12 to 24. Ken Murphy, a retired Yarmouth superintendent, currently holds the job on an interim basis after replacing Alan Hawkins, who retired in December after five years as superintendent.
The new deadline for applications is May 6.
