AUGUSTA —  Hall-Dale found it could win with one of its stars on the bench Monday night. With senior center Taylor Massey sitting most of the game due to foul trouble, the Bulldogs nonetheless pulled out a 49-41 victory over Livermore Falls in the Mountain Valley Conference championship game at the Augusta Civic Center.

MVC Player of the Year Carylanne Wolfington took up the slack by scoring a game-high 23 points. Massey reentered the game in the final two minutes and made four free throws to help seal the win. Massey finished with six points.

Hall-Dale led 21-15 at the half, despite the fact that Massey sat out several minutes after picking up her second foul.

Wolfington scored eight of the Bulldogs’ first nine points, and in the second quarter teammate Wendy Goldman scored seven points.

Senior center Marissa Welch kept the Andies close with eight of her team-high 16 points.

Boothbay and Dirigo set the tone for next week’s Class C boys tournament with a double-overtime thriller in the MVC boys title game. Sophomore Andy Dimauro connected on a free throw with 16 seconds left to give Boothbay an 89-88 win.

Dirigo’s Cody St. Germain tied the game in the first overtime with a layup at the buzzer following a court length pass. Germain led Dirigo with 44 points, while Dimauro paced Boothbay with 28.
