Halloween is almost here; do you know where you’re going or who you’ll be? If your plans for the spookiest night of the year are still up in the air, check out these happening events at bars near you:

TONIGHT

The Great Lost Bear, 540 Forest Ave., Portland, will host a Gritty’s McDuff’s Halloween Ale party with Gritty’s owners Ed Stebbins and Richard Pfeffer in attendance. Get special deals on Gritty’s Halloween Ale, Black Fly Stout, Pub Style and Cask Conditioned from 5 to 9 p.m.

FRIDAY

The Landing, 353 Pine Point Road, Scarborough, is holding its Second Annual Pumpkinhead Bash. Costumes are expected, and there will be tunes from DJ Greg Powers. Look for Shipyard Pumpkinhead specials and prizes for the best attire. Doors open at 8 p.m. with a $20 cover. Call 774-4527 to find out about the “Pumpkinhead Express,” a shuttle service to and from The Landing that night.

If you are into something a little more spooky, be sure to stop by The Asylum, 121 Center St., Portland, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday for the annual Goth Ball. Check out the Gothic King and Queen of the Ball costume contest, dance performances by Vivid Motion, Sennyo and Dai Zaobab, goth prom pictures and DJs spinning goth/industrial music. Tickets can be bought in advance at www.gothicmaine.com or at the door at 121 Center St.

SATURDAY

At Bingas Wingas Stadium Smokehouse and Sports Bar, 77 Free St., Portland, partygoers will be dressing up and getting crazy over raffle prizes and music starting at 9 p.m. The venue is huge, and the parties here never disappoint. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at Bingas or Bull Moose Music.

The Frog and Turtle Gastro Pub is moving over to its sister space, the French Press Bakery, on Maine Street in Westbrook to make more room for its fourth annual Halloween Bash. This space will feature a huge dance floor, and Travis James Humphrey will be jamming out a great mix of country, blues and classic rock. Tickets are $25, and you must be in costume to participate in the fun, food and fantastic prize giveaways.

Don’t feel like dressing up, but feel like getting down? A Portland favorite, ’80s band The Awesome, is playing at Bubba’s Sulky Lounge, 92 Portland St., Portland, at 9 p.m. There’s free parking, cheap drinks and two light-up dance floors.

Space Gallery, 538 Congress St., Portland, holds its annual Halloween Party on Saturday night. You’ll want to buy tickets in advance at Bull Moose, because this event has been known to sell out. Dead Man’s Clothes, Marie Stella, Jack Tar and a surprise performance will keep you dancing until close for $10 a ticket.

SUNDAY

The Run of the Mill, Saco Island, Saco, plans on having a huge bash on the actual day of your fave holiday. With live music from Jazzy Chas and the Del Rossi Posse starting at 9 p.m. and cash prizes for the best costume, you’ll want to get decked out and head on over.
