With the pumpkins sufficiently plump and the cornstalks rustling in the wind, the time has come to celebrate this year’s harvest. You’ll find plenty of autumnal bounty this weekend, when pie, hayrides and pumpkin carving fill harvest festivals across the state.
At Saturday’s New Gloucester Community Fair, event chairman Michael Bardier said the harvest will be visible at the end of the day Saturday when the town’s community garden organization, New Gloucester Gardens, makes a donation to those in need.
“They’re taking all the potatoes they’ve grown this year and putting them on a tractor,” Bardier said. “Then they’ll take them to the Good Shepherd Food Bank.”
This isn’t the only place you can witness our state’s harvest on display. Check out any of these events for a healthy dose of seasonal fun.
