Country-pop recording sensation Taylor Swift will soon be back in Maine to debut the video she shot here.
The details aren’t yet clear, but Swift will be in the Kennebunks for a live half-hour special to introduce the “Mine” video, said Amanda Murphy, a spokeswoman for CMT. The country music network will air “CMT Premieres Taylor Swift ‘Mine’” at 8 p.m. Aug. 27.
“The plan is to go live from Kennebunk or Kennebunkport, one of the two,” Murphy said.
A production team was in Maine on Thursday to figure out logistics — including whether there will be a live audience, Murphy said.
The special will include a live interview with Swift, 20, her commentary on the making of the video and a tour of the towns that Swift gives to CMT host Katie Cook. The tour will likely be recorded in advance, Murphy said.
She said more information is expected to be available early next week.
Swift stirred excitement early last month when she was spotted at various sites in Maine. She was named Billboard Magazine’s 2009 Artist of the Year and the Favorite Female Artist in the People’s Choice Awards of 2010. Her album “Fearless” won the Grammy for the 2010 Album of the Year.
Last month, Swift and her mother, Andrea, stopped for a late dinner at Becky’s Diner on Commercial Street in Portland.
The video was shot at Ram Island Farm in Cape Elizabeth and at Christ Church on Dane Street in Kennebunk, which was the venue for a wedding scene. Swift emerged from the church’s double-wide doors in a strapless ivory gown with her “groom” — British actor Toby Hemingway — as guests blew bubbles toward them.
The Rev. Janet Leighninger, pastor at Christ Church, said Thursday that Swift will always be welcome at the church. But Leighninger said she hadn’t been approached for additional filming there.
“I’m much better at interpreting the Bible than star sightings,” she said.
Kennebunk police Lt. Anthony Bean Burpee and Kennebunkport Deputy Police Chief Kurt Moses said they had no information about Swift returning to the area.
There have been no requests for detail officers or road closures. But neither department knew in advance that Swift would be in the area in July.
“They really didn’t ask ahead of time,” Moses said of Swift’s previous visit, when his department provided some crowd control. “We kind of mandated they have some representative from our department. I think we probably would get some kind of notification, but we haven’t got any to date.”
“Mine” is the first single for Swift’s new album, “Speak Now,” which will be released Oct. 25. In an Internet video chat last month, Swift described the song as finding the exception to her usual tendency to run from love.
Swift said in the chat that she fell in love with the Portland area while shooting the video. She didn’t give any hints about the premiere special in Maine next week, but she did tell viewers that she intended to return to the state.
“When I am old and I have silver hair. Or white. I don’t know which one it will be, some shade like that. I want to live in Maine. I want to have a house and make necklaces or something and have a lot of cats,” she said. “It’s a whole fantasy for me. So at least I know where I’m going to end up.”
