As part of the First Friday Art Walk, Maine Historical Society in Portland will show a series of images in its ongoing exhibition “Exposed: Rare Photographs of Life in Maine.” The exhibition weaves a visual narrative of life in Maine. Images include turn-of-the-century automobile racing on Old Orchard Beach, the 1970 student strike at Colby College, 1925 Portland Green Sox baseball, Maine Gov. Carl Milliken escorted in a canoe by two Passamaquoddy Indians at the 1920 Maine Centennial Celebration in Deering Oaks and others.

A reception will be from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Earle G. Shettleworth Jr. Lecture Hall at Maine Historical Society, 489 Congress St., Portland. The exhibit is open daily through Oct. 31. For information, call 774-1822 or visit www.mainehistory.org.

Bath Heritage Days will hold its annual “Front Street Shuffle” on Front Street in Bath from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 5. The car show features more than 100 antique and classic cars, street rods, hot rods, sports cars and unique vehicles.
Front Street from Centre to Elm streets will be closed to traffic. The Front Street Shuffle is a highlight of Bath Heritage Days, a weekend-long Independence Day celebration held in downtown Bath. The Maine Songwriter’s Association presents its second benefit showcase at 7 p.m. July 14 at St. Lawrence Arts & Community Center, 76 Congress St. Four groups will perform to raise money for the St. Lawrence general fund. Edwards; Truth About Daisies, a harmonious original country trio; the jazz/fusion sounds of the Dave Bullard Trio; and Sean Mencher and his Rhythm Kings.
