BANGOR — Richmond took advantage of Central Aroostook walks and errors en route to a 7-4 victory in the State Class D baseball championship game Saturday at Mansfield Stadium.
The Bobcats broke the game open with three runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth as the Panthers issued five walks and committed four errors over that span. The Bobcats finished with just four hits in winning their first baseball state title since 1996.
Nick Woods went the distance for the pitching win, allowing 10 hits and four walks while striking out six. The Bobcats managed just four hits in the game, two of those by Woods. Richmond finishes at 15-4 while Central Aroostook closes at 16-4.
