HISTORY: Berean Baptist is a fundamental, Bible-believing church. On Oct. 25, 1849, 44 of the Brunswick residents of the Topsham Baptist Church were dismissed from membership to form their own church.

The building the congregation occupies was dedicated on Jan. 9, 1890, and the church was known as Berean Baptist Church of Brunswick. It was incorporated on Dec. 18, 1922.

The pastor, the Rev. Mark Rockwood, started his ministry at Berean Baptist on Jan. 2, 2003, after graduating from New Brunswick Bible Institute in New Brunswick, Canada. He and his wife, Paula, have three grown children.

SERVICES: Sunday school for all ages is held at 9:30 a.m., followed by morning worship at 10:45 a.m. There is a Sunday evening service at 6 p.m.

Bible study and prayer meeting is held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

During the school year, there are programs for boys and girls: AWANA is for children in kindergarten through sixth grade, and DETOUR is for those in grades six through 12.

FUTURE PLANS: MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) is scheduled to open at Berean in early fall, and the annual Missions Conference will be held in October.
